The concept is simple: treat my clients as individuals, provide top-notch service that demonstrates my passion for fitness and health, and create an environment that is lively and fun, yet supportive and encouraging so that clients are motivated to show up and work hard.
Though personal training is certainly NOT inexpensive, hiring me as your own trainer should be viewed as an excellent investment in your health, physical appearance and mental discipline. My responsibilities to you include teaching proper methods of training, developing exercise routines tailored to your fitness level and goals, making you accountable and motivating you to meet those expectations, and to do my best to arrange appointments that fit your demanding schedule.

All New Clients Undergo an Initial Consultation
- Complete a thorough health and exercise history questionnaire;
- Clinical testing which includes blood pressure, body fat composition, aerobic capacity and strength;
- Receive instruction on cardiovascular equipment and aerobic training protocols;
- Perform basic abdominal exercises emphasizing core stability and strength;
- Sports and performance nutrition assessment which includes diet review and suggestions for improved macronutrient intake ;
- Learn proper stretching techniques to increase flexibility, improve recovery time and reduce the risk of injury.
Each fitness program provides education, variety and prepares you for the demands of the next level. We will lift weights at every session! Strength training is the best way to build endurance, increase muscular strength and change your body composition. We'll also work on improving your static and dynamic balance, coordination and agility. You'll keep making gains in strength, keep advancing in skill levels.
After training with me over several months you can expect that the intensity of your regimen will have changed considerably! What won't change though is the level of professional service that you receive. Each minute of every session is about you! My focus is solely on making sure that I do all I can to support your goals and needs.
Background, Certifications and Areas of Specialization
I hold a variety of professional certications in personal training, lifestyle and weight management, corrective exercise prescription, sports nutrition, core training, group fitness, and pre and post natal fitness from the International Sports Science Association (ISSA), American Council on Exercise (ACE), Egoscue Method, and others.
Areas of specialization include fat loss and weight manageemnt, post-therapy fitness/return to work rehabilitation, interval conditioning, preimenopausal and menopausal weight management, postural analysis and corrective exercise prescription, and fitness for special populations (diabetes mellitus, hypertension, arthritis, obesity, carpal and cubital tunnel syndrome, hyperlipidemia, osteoporosis, pregnancy).
About Your Workout Sessions
Personal training sessions are scheduled for 50 minutes.
New clients are advised to schedule sessions 2x per week - a frequency which can be maintained for years, or increased for that special jump start (special occasions like weddings, anniversaries, reunions, vacations or other "emergencies") when you need to look especially lean and toned.
Training sessions take place at our private studio in downtown Pleasanton or at your home. Studio session rates are $75 each; home sessions include travel time to and from your location and travel expense for the trainer, and are billed at $90 per session. Or you can train with a friend for increased fun, motivation and lower cost! Fees are discounted by 40% for the second person in a 2 on 1 training set!
A two-session retainer is required and held in the event you "No Show" or cancel your session with less than the required 24 hour advance notice. Your two session retainer fee will be returned to you at the conclusion of training, or used towards your final two sessions.
No long-term contracts or commitments are required. You are free to begin or end training at any time and for any reason. However, the majority of my clients have been with me for several years. And I am positive that you will be too as you lose pounds, reduce body fat levels, see dramatic changes in your figure and marvel with a smile at your new muscles! You'll wonder how you ever did without me!
If you live outside the San Francisco Bay Area, two levels of online training services are available.
Online/Distance Personal Training
Basic Fitness Consultation - $49.95
Don’t keep doing things the same way while expecting a different result! If you are wondering “What am I doing wrong?” “Why am I not losing weight?”, “Why am I getting bigger instead of smaller?” a consultation should get you on the right track! Receive advice from a fitness professional on modifying your current workout routine with minimal equipment. Consultation includes a review of your current exercise program including frequency, type, time spent and your food intake and eating patterns. Receive a 1-2 page report supplying suggestions for changes in weight, type of movement, diet modification for maximizing fat loss and muscle growth and increasing cardiovascular and muscular endurance!
This consultation is a great bargain and wonderful information to have if you already have a reasonable level of workout experience and just need a push in the right direction.
Consultation and Customized Fitness Program - $99.99
Intermediate and Advanced Level Trainees Only
Specialized programs for recreational sports, post-pregnancy shape-ups, 10K training, ski conditioning, pickup basketball, tennis, golf, softball, volleyball, muscle building and fat loss for those working out at least 3 months. Must have experience with weight training and gym equipment, with access to a variety of equipment that you feel comfortable using correctly. You will receive a 2 or 3 day split workout routine to break plateaus and challenge your body in exciting new ways. A split routine shortens your time in the gym and fine-tunes your physique with isolation and compound moves.
Exercises are suggested which enhance flexibility, balance and muscular strengthening and endurance to eliminate postural problems and muscle imbalances. This is a customized program based on YOUR goals, physical condition and available equipment. As these are individually customized programs, please allow 5-7 days to receive your new routines.
Although I have extensive experience working with clients experiencing a wide variety medical and orthopedic conditions, these programs are no substitute for what may require physical therapy or medical/surgical intervention. A referral may be suggested.
